Fresh Chomp Churchill Shopping Centre Kilburn Review Pan Mee
Fresh Chomp
Due to its name, I had thought
"Oh! A burger place!"
However outside, there was a board with their specials written on it

Nasi Lemak
Pan Mee

Being Malaysians, and considering how hard it is to find authentic Malaysian food that actually tastes like it does back home?
Reading those words, they made us curious enough to want to try it out.

The shop owners, Angeline and John (husband&wife) introduced themselves.
They're Malaysian too.
They didn't have that many mains on the menu, but that's a good thing for me because I always have trouble choosing!
They serve Nasi Lemak, Pan Mee, Laksa, and Teh Tarik amongst other things.
I ordered the Pan Mee (one of my favourites back home) and a cup of Teh Tarik while Lewis got the Nasi Lemak

 Pan Mee ($8.50)
For those of you who don't know what this is, it's a Malaysian dish.
It consists of simple flour-based noodles, anchovy broth, minced meat (usually pork), crispy fried anchovies and some vegetables.

When it arrived at our table, I was ecstatic!
The noodles were the hand-pulled flat ones and not the long thin flat ones.

The Pan Mee tasted so so so good. So much like the ones back home!

It also came with extra fried anchovies (my favourite!) and sambal.

Fresh Chomp Churchill Shopping Centre Kilburn Review Nasi Lemak Rendang Chicken
Nasi Lemak ($8.50)
This is a Malay dish where the rice is cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaves. It is often serves with sambal, fried crispy anchovies, toasted peanuts and cucumber. This Nasi Lemak also had rendang chicken and an egg to top it off as well!

Guys, this nasi lemak was so good, then even after I had finished my pan mee, I ate whatever Lewis couldn't finish.
And the portions were massive! Especially for that price?

SO WORTH IT!

After we had finished our food, Angeline and John came to our table and started a conversation.
They were so friendly and so inviting.
They explained that the shop was meant to be a Cafe serving sandwiches, pies, etc.
But then Malaysian customers came in requesting Malaysian food and that's when they decided to serve food from home as well
We lost track of time and ended up being there for maybe more than 2 hours!
But we didn't mind.
It's always nice to meet and talk to people from home.

Talking about how much we missed home, Angeline was so sweet and offered Lewis a small cup of Teh Tarik.

Teh Tarik
Also known as Malaysian pulled milk tea. It is a brew of black tea mixed with condensed/evaporated milk poured from a height to create a sweet, frothy drink.

Angeline also offered to let us try their Kaya Butter Toast as well.
& of course, it tasted so so good as well!
I didn't get any pictures of it unfortunately, because it was so good I ate it pretty quickly.

I highly highly recommend this place for Malaysian food.
Even if you don't want a main meal, try out their Kaya Butter Toast + Coffee/Tea Deal for only $5
You won't regret it!

Definitely going to be one of their regulars!
